How to Advertise on Google - Helpful Tips on How to Advertise on Google

advertise on google

Over the past few years advertising on Google has changed from being quite easy to quite complicated. There are some basic things that you must be aware when learning how to advertise on Google and rules you must follow before you throw any money at the Google Cash machine. Here is one particular area you need to be aware of.

Assuming that you know the area in which you want to advertise the first place you need to visit is the Google keyword tool. A keyword is how your potential customers will find you.

Learning how to advertise on Google takes time and you need to think like a customer and think about what they will type in to the search box. Write down a full list of all the phrases they might be likely to enter when either looking for the solution to their problem or searching for a product just like the one you are selling.

When you have your list of potential search phrases open up the Google keyword tool. Make sure to change geographical locations to match where you want to sell your product. For example if you want to sell worldwide you can select " all countries and territories" whereas if you only want to sell in the UK you can select "United Kingdom". Changing this setting will show you the number of search results for your phrases in that geographical location.

Now enter your phrase into the keyword or phrase line box and click on "get keyword ideas". This will populate a list that will show you the average number of searches for your keyword along with the number of searches in the previous month. These are the numbers that will determine for you if it is worth placing an advertisement and whether to focus on that particular phrase. If for example a phrase only has 50 searches per month it might not be worth targeting, on the other hand, if it has 5000 searches per month that might look more promising. Advertise on google.

When learning how to advertise on Google another factor you need to take in to consideration is the advertiser competition as indicated by a box partially shaded in blue. To check how many advertisers have exactly your phrase in their websites or articles go to the Google search box and type your phrase in with inverted commas around it e.g." your phrase". Generally speaking the bigger the numbers in here the more expensive your cost per click will be. My rule of thumb is that anything over 10,000 in this search might be too difficult to work with.

Once you have determined the keyword phrases you want to target you need to decide if you only want to target searchers who type exactly that phrase. You can do this by selecting the keywords you want to use and placing them in brackets like this [your keyword]. This is called an exact match but if you want a broad match, i.e. you want to target a searcher who types any part of your phrases, then do not use the brackets. Brackets will generally result in less impressions (your ad being shown less) but the people who see it will be more targeted and further along the buying cycle. When learning how to advertise on Google what you do not want, is your ad to be shown to everyone and to be clicked on by people who have no intention of buying. This will burn a very large hole in your advertising budget.

This is only one particular area of a very complex subject and there is much much more to learn if you found this article on learning how to advertise on Google helpful why not have a look for my other re-related articles.
